I have seen W6's listed as McCormick Deering, IH, and Farmall.
Which is it?
Would you consider it mor of a H Utility or and M Utility.
I haven't bought a tractor in awhile but this tractor looks like something I would like to have.

McCormic Deering, Farmall, and IH are all registered names used by the International Harvester company. Case has the rights to the International Harvester name but Farmall at least stayed with the original owners. All the units you listed are International Harvester prior to the Case buy out. All should be equally reliable. larry m

McCormick Deering until around mid 1949, then the Deering was dropped. It is a standard tractor, call it a wheatland if you like. It is not a utility, IH did not produce utilities until late 1954 with the 300U. The only wheatland tractor based on a utility was the 350 wheatland. The 460U may have had a utility based on it. As to the W/WD6 I won't even say it was "based" on the M. It did enter production a year later and has the same engine, and shares certain parts but it is a different tractor.

Not based, but the W6 does share many common parts/designs in the drivetrain with the M. They were likely designed at the same time.

The W-4 is the "Standard" version of the H, the W-6 was the standard model of the M. I've never heard the W-Series called Utility models, they are "Standard". They are not called Farmalls, They were called McCormick Deering until 1944, then they called them McCormick. The decals and emblems were changed when they called them McCormick.
