icing carb on h and 450

does anyone now if the is a some sort of heat riser or heat box for these tractors to keep the carbs from icing? or any other ideas

thanks howard

Carb icing is normal in cold weather, nothing to worry about. They will also frost a little when it is extremely humid.

Morning Howard,

Let the tractor warm up for a couple of minutes before putting it to work and just ignore that carb ice.

It's a perfectly normal occurance on gas engines in cold weather when first started.

This was discussed in the forum not too long ago, visit the below link or do a search in the archives for "frosty carb" and you'll see descriptions and rigs for heating the intake air via the muffler.

Put a tarp over the hood and or take some foil and make a cover that will cover the exhaust manifold and carb to help keep the heat in that area. That said its just part of life and how a carb works for them to ice up
