Farmall H stage 2

I was wondering what is a Farmall H stage 2. I have been seeing them from time to time and wondering what is the difference from a regular H. Thanks for the info!

Should be Stage II Super H. They just had some different changes from the regular Super H. They had battery under the seat, live hydraulics, a different front grille and a few other small changes. I believe the stage 2 Super H was also the first to use the wide front with tie rods behind the axle.

(quoted from post at 21:18:14 12/25/08) I believe live PTO also.

The Farmall line didn't see a live PTO until the Super MTA. The H sized tractors didn't get it until the 300.

I kind of wish they did though, I never understood why it took IH so long to get IPTO into they're line. With all the resources they had they ended up playing catchup on one of the most practical features you could think of.

I think IH was afraid that farmers would reject too much change at once, so they worked the new modern features in gradually.

Just look at the tractor industry as a whole. Oliver had live PTO and hydraulics before everyone else. They're out of business. John Deere had the most technologically backward tractors, and were the last to come out with a truly "modern" tractor, yet they are the only manufacturer that is still independent. Everyone else has been merged into one of the major conglomerates.

The key was not forcing modern gadgetry on farmers until they were ready to accept it. There were still too many farmers who grew up behind horses still calling the shots in the 1950's. It wasn't until the next generation took over in the 1960's that farms were ready for some convenience features.
