I don"t have a dipstick and have never seen one but need to know how full it needs to be. I drained it. Have 2 gal 30w oil in it now and the oil level is still OVER 5.5 inches below the top of the filler neck. One person said I could fill it to the bottom of the filler neck, and I believe him, but would like to know what level is recommended by the factory AND how much more oil I need to buy (it"s a jaunt to the store).

6 quarts is the rated capacity. You've got plenty.

Don't worry about being 2 quarts over. As you've been told you can fill them right to the top.
