At low speed on low charge the amp meter reads -2. Is this correct or is something wrong?

nothing is wrong. The tractor will not be charging at low engine speeds. The cutout relay prevents radical discharge, but the system is on its own. Even putting it on H will usually not charge much at idle. Late slow cultivating often discharged the battery enough to keep it from restarting. (alternators will make pretty good amps at modest to slow speeds once started to charge, (excited). JimN
