Replacing the O ring in the hydraulic pump on a 1960 cub loboy. Bought a kit and the O ring for the shaft is just too big. Anyone else run into this problem. The guy told me I have the right kit for that model.

No, but in my little pea-brain the solution is simple: Go back and get the right O-ring. Bring the pump with you.

When i went to do my Super A, someone on this forum (i forget who) and the shop guy both informed me there were 2 or 3 different pumps used over the years and he needed my pump part # to verify the o rings, seals, etc. The same situation is probably with the cubs. I suggest you look for a part or serial # on your pump.

There were 2 variants to the pump seal on the Cub. The earliest used a lip seal and the others an o-ring. The o-ring should be 1/2 x 11/16 x 3/32 (252 739 R1). If your o-ring is something else, you need to go back for the right one. If it matches, you need to check what pump you have. It should be 352 035 Rx, where x is from 1 to 4. R1 would take the lip seal.

I Called the guy I bought the parts from and he is going to send the correct one out. The manufacturer must have put the wrong O ring with the kit. Everything else fit fine. Thanks for your help.
