-I like to know about if their is a difference in connecting rods from a 221 to a 301.
-I need info on this engine I just want to use stock IH parts to build power.
-also a perfered carb
-I want the tractors engine to look original

Yea ya can keep the outside stock looking , Just never look on the inside as well as any of the carbs that i built can't tell from the outside . Everyone that i ever built was a winner and made for a real long pulling season for the comp.

Looked up the part no. they are the same .Pull the sleeves out put in 301 pistons and put in a 282 crank instant 301.I skipped all that and put in a 715 combine engine.

Ya don't want to stop at just 301 there is more to go with off set grinding of the crank bore her thu the water jacket and then sleeve it to as big as ya can go there then comes the head work . then getting a cam cut to work in the range that ya plan to run the engine at . Extrusion honing of the intake . And the list goes on . It is almost like back in my drag racing days i worked by this phrase YA HAVE TO BE WILLING TO WASTE AND ENGINE ON EVERY PASS if ya want to win .

DANG IT, Vet, I just LOVE your enthusiasm! If anybody knows these ol' 6-hole Binders better'n you, I don't know who it'd be!

Now...how much of the tractor strategy is applicable to the 6-cylinder truck motors [not the Red Diamonds, but the SD/BD engines] ?? I've got a '51 L-110 with the stock SD-220 and a '52 L-110 with a transplanted BD-264, so...you know what they say, enquiring minds wanna know.

Npw your asken stuff i don't know as i really never did much truck work a couple of 345 and 392's just one swap out and one rebuild on a 392 and a few tune ups and brake work. Most of the med. duty truck work that i have done was on Fords and that is way back 37 to 40 years ago. Hated every min. working on trucks . But i was good at it and the work kept coming in and back then it paid me a whoppen 11 bucks and hour and we did not work on flat rate on trucks or performance cars is was by the clock from the time i punched the ticket till i punched off.

Well, Merry Christmas and God bless ya, Vet! You're the best friend a 6-cylinder Farmall ever had, I'll tell ya that! I've learned a lot from what you've done for others.

Im building one thats around 380 ci. .060 over 301 bore, custom pistons, 5 inch stroke, with custom rods, but still IH rods. at 3000 rpm it will be 150 hp or more. Look for a 715 combine carb off a 301. Not a 806, 706, 656 etc etc,, A 715 carb. I dont think you can put a 263-301 crank in a 221 block. Something about the rear main seal OD or the rear main is a different size, I cant rememeber, but went and got a sleeveless 263 to start with.
