Valve guide seals for H

I know this has been discussed with different opinions, but I,ll stir the pot again. I took my 1950 H head to machine shop for valve grind and seats installed under each valve. Guides were in spec so didnt go with new ones but shop installed white nylon positive valve seals. They fit very tight on guides and valve stem.My mechanic friend is worried valves will stick because of no oil. Ive never had the H running because of a stuck piston. Tractor wont be used hard or very regular. Could I add somthing to gas so valves dont stick but engine still doesnt smoke ??? Please HELP. Jeff

A 1/2 quart or so of auto trans fluid (ATF) per 10 gallons of gas won't hurt a thing. You might even be able to use the full quart. Another possibility would be to use 2 stroke oil mix. I think the 2 stroke stuff might have a fuel stabilizer in it which would also be a plus if you don't use the tractor for extended periods.

I was just about to post a topic about this. I recently took my H farmall apart and it did not have valve seals in place. I did although knurel the guides to give the valves a tighter fit. Are seals necessary? I have did others before also without seals and there was no smoke? What do you recommend?

There were no valve seals or umbrellas from the factory. I'll make no recommendations one way or the other. If you don't mind a little puff of blue smoke when you first start it up, maybe it's better to not use the seals?

The design of the seals actually meter oil into the guide on every movement. The seal designers know that no oil will ruin the valves, no worries. JimN
