Char-lynn Power steering on M from MD

I am looking at buying a Char-Lynn power steering system from a MD. Will this work and bolt on my gas engine SM the same way as the diesel or do I need to get mounting brackets for a gas engine. I guess my question is I know the setup from a gas M will not work on a MD because of injection pump and other items that are in the way but will the MD setup work on a gas M. Thank you for any help you and give me.
 
the power steering bracket should bolt up the same on the md motor. the torque generator will mount the same also. if you need copies of the installation and instruction manuals for the char-lynn power steering system, shoot me an email, i can email them back to you. glenn
 
Chet, Yes it will work but with some modifications. In went from a gas SM to a SMD...just opposite what you are doing.
You will need to get a guage mounting bracket for a SM. The guage brackets are different, mainly because of the bracket that is needed to hold the throttle lever. I don't know about the bracket or pump from the MD. For sure the bracket is different. A good source of information and parts would be Force America located in Humbolt, Iowa. Telephone 800 362 2994 and ask for Derrick in the shop. I did not use the belt driven Char-Lynn pump on the SMD. Instead I used the existing distributor driven hydraulic pump. I installed a flow control and plumbed it so the Charr-Lynn orbitor motor would not be overloaded.
I would be willing trade the guage brackets (the one you need for the one off the MD) if you are interested. Marv 319 835 5685

I will go ahead and buy the unit and see how it goes. I will keep in touch if I need more information I can't thank you enough. I am getting old and can't hardly steer old Red. I sure don't want to give her up. Too many years behind it's wheel.
