need help naming new dog

It's kind of mean but I was going to suggest Kitty! If you already have a cat that could get sort of confusing. The dog's gender would help a lot. You wouldn't want to name a male Louise.

Male: Westley.
Female: Buttercup.

He's a boy, one year old....very happy dog, he came to Maine from a shelter in Indiana via a Lab rescue league trying to find good homes.

I have a yellow tractor amongst my collection and his name is IA. Of course he is almost 64 years old. Merry Christmas, Del

Back in August I surprised my kids with a chocolate Lab puppy. I cannot offer you anything but my sympathy. If you value it run, do not walk, and put it out of reach.

i had three black labs, tar, cookie, and pokey. some beagles, bea, snoopy, cricket and spot. a german shepard, shep. neighbors dogs were pal, (big dog, bit everybody) tuffy, (bit me once), rudy, and archemedes, and a little dog, ginger. (she was mean) and thats all i have to say about that.

Name it Barack. That way when you have to beat it you won"t feel bad. Labs are hard to train. They just have to outgrow their stupidity.

My sister had a lab named Boomer. I think she named it Boomer because it would go "boom" with its tail. Other big dog names that I have heard of: Pearson, Romeo, Smokey, Roscoe

How about Cub or Cubby, or MD or TA or Farmall or maybe Big Red. Oh Yea did I tell you I am colorblind! Anyway they are big and lovable mutts. Enjoy him.

I currently have my 3rd lab. My kids gave it to me for my birthday, that way I couldn't tell them "no more dogs", ha ha. I named this one Ripley as in "believe it or not!" they talked me into another lab. Labs make good dogs but as others have said, it takes the 3 years to outgrow the puppy state of mind. So I 2nd the idea of removing anything of value until a later date.

I got a Keeshound. Someone dumped him when he was a pup, I call him Buddy cause he's my buddy. Best dog I ever had. Still got him. Traveler,Polar, Butters,Bullet,Cheyene are all good names. Just give him a name he can be proud of. rw

Naming a dog is a very personal thing - you really ought to name your own dog.
But...... since you don't want to, or can't do it, I suggest: "Heathcliff Rasputin Throckmorton Van Cleef III".

Hey there Farmall:
Just picked up wife's new pup, he's 6mo old,
and little (and I mean little), critter must weigh all of 3-1/2 lbs Pomeranian/Chihuahua,
and we don't have a name for him either, oh
well I guess she'll have to come up with a
name on her own. Bob
God Bless

If you can train him to talk, walk on his hind legs, drive a car and drink Martinis, call him Brian.
( We get "Family Guy here too, its a great show! )

A number of years ago I bought my wife a Beagle pup (hunting dog)for Mother's Day. When I gave it to her, I asked her what she wanted to call it, she said "Disappointed", so that's what I call him. He turned out to be a good hunting dog.

Two stray pups came to our place a few years ago. They were bad to jump up on people. Daughter named them "Get Down, and Get Back". Still got one of them.

Just bought a French Mastiff puppy in October. Named her Roxy. Sounded kind of like a tough female name to me but she is not living up to it- at least not for being a mastiff. Just one big puddle of love. Came from Massachusetts and I am in MN (She got a rude awakening last week when it was -20 at night and had to go outside!). Best dog I have ever had (so far). I am only 22, but she's wonderful. Also bought the girlfriend a Shih Tzu about 4 years ago and she named her Daisy. Homed a black lab named Bella for a while (friend needed me to watch her while he was away in Iraq) Very nice dog. Girlfriends parents have a Cocker Spaniel (Zoie) and a Bichon (Lacey). Oh, I also have a 2-year old Iguana named Lana. Mom has a Shih Tzu named Angel. Dad had a Shih Tzu Poo named Buster. When I was a little guy Mom and Dad had a Yellow Lab named Buddy. Needless to say we sure do love our dogs. I am trying to get Roxy to sit long enough to take a picture in front of the tractor to post in here, but she tends to wander around the garage.

George Bailey

He's the main character in "It's A Wonderful Life", Jimmy Stewart played George Bailey. It was on t.v. last night.

Thanks for all the good ideas! We had no idea we'd get so many replys.

Merry Christmas to all!
