Char lynn on H questions

Hello,

Planning on putting a char lynn on an h with loader. but got a few questions.
Can the steering still be used in manual without hydraulic flow/engine running if needed?

Any and all pictures/ instructions/ tips would be handy to ease installation.

Thanks

I have the Char-Lynn torque motor on my H. Yes, you can steer it without hydraulic flow, but it will be even harder than before.

The main piece you will need that is different from an M is the tapered spacer to get the angle correct. I believe they were $65 a few years back, I had my machine shop make one from pics and measurements for $15.

It measures 0.722" at the thickest and 0.085" at the thinnest
parts, depth cut in for the shoulder is 0.160"

Here is the way I installed the torque motor on my H, I drilled different holes to get the hoses where I wanted them:

And here is the way it is SUPPOSED to be installed, using the factory holes in the bushing:

And a word of warning - Dad had power steering on both an H and M with loaders, he got rough with them each once = broken parts.

Steve, What kind of pump is that on the second tractor. Does that clear the hood? You need to find the Saginaw pump.it's much lower.

Couldn't tell you, not my tractor. It was someone from the forum here a couple years back...

My pump looks like this:

Hey Stephen! Do you have more detailed specs on that spacer? I have a brand new Charlynn steering gear and pump for my H, but it doesn't have the spacer. I need to get one made, or to buy a new one. I don't think I can get a new one because I talked to someone at CharLynn.

Email me at [email protected].

Thanks!

Call Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch, I think he can get them yet. steelwheelranch DOT com

I had mine made from those two pictures and the measurements I gave above. I also let the machine shop have the torque motor to get it to fit perfect. That's all I have.
