H Wiring Diagram

I was given an "H" on propane and need a wiring diagram. It needs a lot of work from setting but at least it is not stuck. Thanks in advance. Gene

If Bob M's drawings aren't sufficient drop me an email and I can send you a pdf file of the original drawing out of the parts manual.

my gas Farmall H has a magneto can you show a diagram of spark plug wires in correct place, i was told i was a half turn out what ever that means.

There's no diagram for that that I know of.

Being a half turn out mean that things are set up such that your plugs are firing on the wrong stroke. Two ways, generally, for that to happen. One is simply to have put the right wires in the wrong places. Far more common is to have timed the mag with #1 at top dead center on the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke.

Just to make sure you're hooked up right, #1 is the cylinder nearest the front of the tractor, #4 at the rear. Your firing order is 1-3-4-2. So wherever #1 turns out to be on the distributor cap, the wires should run clockwise as you look at the top of the cap in that same order. (The #1 tower on the cap is normally at about 2 o'clock as you look at the cap.)

If they're hooked up in the correct order, a simple check to see if you're 180* out is to swap the wires at the cap. Move each one directly across from where it now is, i.e., swap #1 with #4 and #3 with #2, and see if it will run.

If it does, you have two choices. It will run fine like it is. Or you can re-time it by the book, starting from TDC with #1 at the top of its compression stroke, which will mean moving the wires on the cap back to where they started out.
