Idel Metering Jet Removal

I am in the process of rebuilding a carb for an H. In the process I broke the idle metering jet. What is the best process for removing the damaged jet without damaging the casting?

Do you have to remove it. If it is clean can you leave it alone. If not, maybe easy out or unscrew it by turning with file handle or other tool if you can force it in the hold. Maybe drill carefully with left handed drill bit(there is such a thing). Might be time to go to carb shop.

You probably just broke one or both "ears" off that make the slot you use to screw it out. Dave is right as long as the opening is clean it should run fine. I had my H carb open and found one of the ears broken off. I drilled it out with a tiny bit (don't recall the size) and put the smallest easy out you can get in it. It had a little varnish around the threads but came out fine. I put the new jet back in, and couldn't tell a bit of difference - but I bet I dropped $25 into the drill bit, easy out and new jet.

If the opening isn't buggered up I'd leave it alone. My 2 cents.
