In the middle of a painting project you reach for the full roll of masking tape you purchased 4 years ago. Yup, it’s dried up, splits and will not unroll. Here’s what to do.

Place the masking tape on a paper towel or paper plate into the microwave for 10-20 seconds. Wualaaa. The tape now unrolls and tears as easy as when it was new.

I've found that placing the roll of tape under a heat lamp for a few minutes will do the same thing.

Thanks for the tip. I bet I've threw away a few rolls due to that.

Rusty, I tried the heat lamp and hair dryer way but it either did not work or it got all sticky.
I found that for me, the microwave is more consistant.
