Need Manual for a Super A

My intent is to start restoring a Farmall Super A All-Fuel right after Christmas. So I need the books - owner's manual, parts book, and service manual. From my search, the service manual is the hard one to find. Can anyone help? Also need advice: It is an All-Fuel but has been converted to gasoline (big tank has gas in it). So I will need the correct manifold, valve, etc. Can I find everything I need? What about a fuel supply after I get it back together? The shutters appear to be gone as well, except for the 'control handle' by the operator's platform. Need your ideas and opinions please. Oh, by the way, it also has a 5 foot sickle bar mower. So I need a paint scheme for that too. Would it be best to leave it as a straight gas tractor? HELP.

When it comes to the service manuals, look them over carefully. The engine and chassis manual is the same as for the A and B, and will serve most purposes. They do list, though, a separate engine service manual for the 123. Not sure just how critical any differences were between that and the 113. Piston and sleeve dimensions obviously, but I don't know that the tolerances would be any different. I suppose it might include the hydraulic pump, which would certainly make it different from the book for the 113s.

Shutters can be found but usually come pretty dear.

The heat control manifold shroud and valve are like hen's teeth. You'll do very well if you find one that is operable/repairable. You may wind up having a regular gas manifold. Same with the valves for switching between tanks.

As for fuel, every now and then someone comes on with a recipe for something that should burn like the old distillate. Can't vouch for them and will only say that the old distillate was pretty poor stuff to begin with and isn't available anymore. Most folks just run gas.

Your mower, it will vary some between models and years, but the general scheme was for the frame and all the pulleys and works and lift mechanism to be red, the wood pitman and the flange it attaches to were IH white (an almond/cream color), the cutter bar was International Blue, and the grassboard white again.

Scotty: The tractor has an after-market gas manifold (Vinshon or something like that). And the carb that is on it looks to be after-market as well; I cannot find any letters or numbers on it. In contrast, the numbers and letters on my 53 Super C carb are easy to read. I spent many hours with that Super C and a fast-hitch 7 foot mower. My memory says that the bar was black, but that was about 50 years ago. There was some blue on it but I cannot remember where. On this mower the grass board is two metal rods. Maybe that should be blue; I just can't remember.

That Vinson will work fine burning gas until you can find the dual-fuel you want or even an original IH manifold.

Good chance, if it doesn't have a draincock on the bowl of it, that the replacement carb is a Zenith, very likely but not for certain #14007, which is their generic carb for all 113s and 123s. If there's any number at all on it, it would be stamped on a tag, not cast into it.

I've attached a link to Wisconsin Historical Soc'ys web page for the IH paint Committee decisions.

They're far from complete and a little awkward to use sometimes as they often just note changes, so they don't tell you what the color was before, and they do't mention what color other parts and pieces are, but maybe you'll find it useful for figuring out how to paint the mower.
