30 Farmall Regular Carb Problems

I"ve got a 1930 Farmall Regular with the brass "snail shell" carb. The tractor runs but I have to keep it almost fully choked or it dies out. I"ve had that carb apart a dozen times. Everything is clean and passages open, new cork float, and reset fuel level in bowl up to where it"s just beneath the (overflow?) tube. A test with ether shows no leaks around head or manifold and plenty of fuel out of the feed line (no problems with sediment bowl or filter screen). Anyone out there have any ideas? It"s not an overly complicated carb -just not getting fuel into the engine for some reason.

Wheel, sound like you have the fuel adjustment to lean. have you tryed open the fuel up. The knob on top on carb.

Hi have you made sure your primeing cups are closed.if they are open or gone it will create vacum leak. Steve

We had a similar problem with ours, found out there were very small rust particles still floating around in our tank. We took a known clean gas tank and hooked it up to the tractor and it ran good. So we took our tank and had it boiled out and sealed. So far no more problems.
