Strange Super A engine numbers

I have a Super A that is reported to be a 1950. The serial number tag is missing from the tractor so I am trying to date the tractor with the engine numbers. The serial numbers are IMAM27744. The numbers behind the oil filter are 356318R2 but they are not 1" high. There are no 1" high numbers anywhere near the oil filter except the firing order numbers. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

That motor maybe out of a power unit they are the same numbers as my A has. Does it have the oil dipstick?

AV: That is not an original engine, thus you will never be able to date the tractor, using any info off the engine. Don't let yourself get hung up over that engine part number not being 1" high digits, not being an original tractor engine is the reason.

If you want to date that tractor your only option is casting date codes. Every major casting has one, and they are about 1/2" high digits giving day and month by number and year by letter and with what looks like a blade type, round head screw cast between each of day month and year. R is 1948, S is 1949, T and U both 1950, V was not used, W is 1951, X is 1952. You can go forward or backward from that.

Is the didstick located in front and below the filter. Is ther a cutout behind the filter where the bell housing and engine block mate. Sounds like an engine off the 55 baler. It seems a your engine is not original as those #s say like it was a U-2 power unit.

Wow.....an engine out of a U-2 in a Super A tractor! F. Gary Powers would have loved to see that, but he would warn that Russian missiles tend to take the rear mains out...hehe!
