could you use a regular M worm shaft since the torque motor takes up some of the length anyway?

I think the Super M is larger diameter shaft at the front bushing. Mine has a "swell" there and is almost exactly 1.o inch in diameter. Bearins is about 2.15 O.D.

Yes if its going to be cut one from a M,MD,SM,SMD,SMTA,SMTA, and 400 or 450 gas or diesel that didn't have IH furnished type power steering will work. The diesel tractors and 400,450 gas will have the same length worm shaft he has now.
