Super A engine #

av1950

New User
I Bought a Super A that is reportedly A 1950. The tractor is missing the tag on the seat support and the serial # on the block is IMAM 27744. There is also a G stamped off to the side. My manuals to show this as the correct engine marking, What is it? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance, Adam

It mite also have been changed and the engine would be from and aux power plant as your numbers are funny for a 1950 A what is the part# and what is the cast code as 1950 would be T

The tractor has hydralics, and is a Super A. I cannot be sure if the engine has been changed.

AV: If the tractor has factory hydraulics then the number you quoted in your original post "27744" is not correct. All Super A have numbers 250000 and above. Are you sure there is not another digit on the end of the number 27744?

What is the block part number? Cast in place, 1" high digits partially behind the oil filter.

Thanks agian for the help. The numbers behind the oil filter are 356318R2 but they are not 1" high. There are no 1" high numbers anywhere near the oil filter except the firing order numbers.

av: The number you've found, 356318 R2 is the block part number. That engine was never used in any of the offset Farmalls at production time.

I'm thinking you have a replacement engine, probably replaced when the tractor was quite new. This also helps explain the unusually low engine serial number for a Super A.

There is another possibility, the engine may have come from a swather, combine, stationary use, etc. Right now, I tend to favor the new replacement engine idea. My understanding is, replacement engines had different part numbers than those used in new equipment. Some of the other guys may know this better than I.
