W6 toolbox location

Does anyone have a picture on where the toolbox is supposed to be on a '51 W6? And what it looked like? I've been told that it was basically an open pan/box mounted on the tranny cover under the gas tank? Thanks in advance!

My I4 has a tool box/tray in that location. Don't know if it is factory or not, and for sure it wouldn't fit there if a belt pulley was installed.

I have a belt pulley on my W6. Looks like I could have a 8" x 14" or so tool tray mounted ther. Just seems like a out of the way place. Currently there's a tool box with a lockable cover mounted on the rear fender down low.

the tool box mounts right in front of steering box on trans. cover flush on the right side. it meas. 103/4 by 51/2 in. it is 33/4 high.

Previous post measurements are righ, the box goes right in front of the steering gearbox whether you got a pulley or not. Ours had a pulley and that's where the factory toolbox was...remember it well.

Then you dont have the right box, or its in the wrong place. My I4 has both the box and the pulley. I can get a picture of it if youd like?

John is right, you probably don't have the right box, my Dad's W-4 has the toolbox under the tank and it also has a belt pulley gearbox.

Could someone post a picture? Particularly of the I4 box. My W-4 doesn"t have a box at all and I would be interested to see what one looks like.

I take that back, I have the old style seat with the little "tool box" on it... but I"d still like to see the one you guys are talking about.

Thanks!
