706 lp rebuild

i have been putting off this rebuild for awhile now but the tractor really needs it. I have never rebuilt an international and need to know. what all do i have to do to take the motor out or is it best to leave it in. also how much is it going to cost for a good high quality rebuild kit and a manual to help me. i have rebuilt tractor motors before if you are wondering just not one of this caliber.

Easiest way to get the enigne out once all the sheetmetal is remove all major components off the block, head, manifolds, etc. Than support the tractor under the bellhousing/torque tube. Then remove the front end, bolster and frame rails. Next pull the block out and finish tearing it down for rebuild. Im not certain with the 706, but odds are there are long bolts going into the block from the back side of the bellhousing. Just to give you heads up.

Here are some pictures from my 560 rebuild. Same basic front half design as far as frame rails and what not. Engine pics are around page 15 or so.

You should get a manual that cover's your tractor and engine. If you need any help post a request on here for help from the TractorVet. You need to take your crankshaft to a good auto machine shop and have them measure it for wear, take the head and have them rework it. The block should be cleaned and new cam bearings installed. Have them check the cam journals for wear and the lobes too. That engine may require line boring your repair shop should know and should be in the manual if its required. Make sure you have the correct equipment for handling the teardown safely. You will need it during reassembly. Take a lot of pics and make sketches an take notes
during the teardown. They will come in handy later. Hal
