MV over haul kit

Probably a silly question, but, I have an MV and is needing an overhaul. My neighbor is going to do it,he is very capable. He said "have you bought a overhaul kit yet? How do I go about that. What kit do I ask for, and where do I get it? Thanks for you help

He needs to tear the engine down before you buy a kit. The crankshaft will need to be measured to determine which size of main and rod bearings are needed. Also need to know the part number on the cylinder head so the correct valve kit can be ordered.

I would have your auto machine shop to furnish the bearings too. Now would be a good time to have the block cleaned and all the oil passages cleaned and blown out. Have them install new cam bearings. Prior to SN 278107 the mains measured 2.7475-2.7485" and the rods 2.4975-2.4985. Hal

Once your guy has the engine apart and all the measurements are made, have that block cleaned, assuming hes doing an off frame rebuild. Take the block and head to a competent automotive machine shop. The ywill have all the specs for you engine, and will know what all you need to do to it. Doesnt sound like you have too capable of a neighbor, as he should have known all of this, and where to get a kit!

You can get engine kits less the bearings here off this Forum under "Marketplace." That's to your upper left. Hal

I have overhaul kits available for your MV. I sell the bearings separately if you need them. You will need the serial number of your tractor to get the correct overhaul kit. If you like, you can e-mail me and I will quote you a price.
