Happy Birthday to me -- M&W hydraulic pump Need info

So today was my 26th birthday. My in-laws gave me the first part of a two part gift. For my birthday was an M&W Live Hydraulic pump and reservoir. For christmas they are giving me behlen power steering, all to fit my M. Not a bad deal I didn't think. I also bought the M from him with 3 new tires and just needing the points cleaned with working loader for 200 bucks.

What I want to find out is information on the pump. On the tag it says

M&W Gear Company
20tfx
3hcs4-4r
52670rc-aa7y

Does anyone have any information on this? I'm hoping it has enough flow to run my loader as well as the power steering. My loader right now is just an old stanhoist trip bucket i'm running off of the belly pump and it only has one way cylinders. I'm then also wanting to retrofit a cylinder to make the dump hydralic instead of trip bucket. Especially when I get the Farmhand loader fixed up as it has a snow bucket. The farmhand loader is also just a trip bucket as well that I will retrofit into to hydralic lift and probably double acting cylinders at some point.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, this pump enough flow to operate both a loader and power steering. You will have to use a priority flow divider though. The flow divider diverts enough flow to the power steering FIRST (the flow is adjustable) then whatever flow is left is sent to operate the loader, rear remotes, or whatever else you want it to do. Another thought, this pump is driven off of the cam gear and the load of the pump puts more stress on that gear and can cause the cam gear to break. You may want to consider replacing the cam gear with the heavier-duty cam gear off a Super M, 400 or 450. Some people have not used the heavier cam gear with the engine driven hydraulic pump and have claimed to have had no problems, while others were not so lucky. I guess the choice is yours, one the one hand it is not quick and easy to change the cam gear, but if you do not change it and the gear breaks, then you will be forced to change it along with anything else that broke when the cam gear did.

The gears are on the plan anyway. The gears in there now make noise as it is. How much flow does this one produce? The internet is not much help to figure this thing out. Also does this take 30wt oil like the belly pump takes or can I use hydralic fluid? Will I need a filter? Can the diverters still be purchased?

Hydraulics are all new to me. This is the one and only tractor I've ever driven or dealt with so far so I'm trying to amass as much info a so possible.

Kirk, how far are you from Seward? That's where I'm at.

Thanks

Neither the belly pump nor the M&W can tell the difference between hytran and SAE 30 motor oil. You can use either in either. You could use vegetable oil if you want.

All hytran is, is SAE 30 engine oil with additives. The additives are why people recommend hytran. SAE 30 non-detergent oil is nearly impossible to find, and regular SAE 30 foams like crazy in a hydraulic system.

By the way, everyone, it's not 30W oil. The W stands for WINTER, not weight. It's SAE 30, or 30 Wt., or 30 weight.

We have a Farmall H and M with M&W live pumps for loaders and rear remotes. Both tractors also have automotive style P/S pumps driven from the fan pulley to run the power steering. Just another way to do the same thing.

Her parents are better to me than both sets of my parents. I got this tractor from him, a cub cadet 70 that my wife's grandpa bought brand new and a whole slew of yard equipt. Not to mention they just treat me like a human being and provide a lot of advice

Hytran is closer to SAE 10. SAE 10 was recommended by IH before Touch Control Fluid, the predecessor of Hytran, was developed. Non detergent is available from Walmart, NAPA, and other places. I usually use SAE 30 detergent in the M&W pump on my M, seems to work ok, but I don't use it much. You want to see oil foam, look at non-detergent in the sight glass in a hot air compressor.

Ok so I went out to my grandparents today and grandpa ended up giving me the glass jar style pre-cleaner and a rear light, both of which I don't have. So score again on my birthday. He also gave me some hand made tools to help pull out the belly pump. I could have brought home another belly pump too but figured I'd leave it there in case he could sell it.

The question now that I don't know is if I do hook my loader up to this M&W pump, I know i will need a spool valve but can I use a once way cylinder on a spool valve?

Thanks
