McCormack - Dearing F-14

Morning Everyone. I have a buddy who is looking to restore and old McCormack - Dearing F- 14 tractor and he needs the following
- Paint codes - horsepower and a rad cap. Any help would be great. Im not sure what year it is

The F14 put a little over 15 hp to the ground, and a little over 18 to the PTO.

Color will depend on the year. Grey if early, red if late. They only made them in '38 and '39, though a few thousand F12s were converted to 14s before being sold.

The old girl is painted all red be it faded over the years. I will try and see if my buddy has a serial # on it somewhere. Not sure where to look, but Ill check just the same. Thanks Barry

Horsepower sounds about right,but I think all 14's were #50 IH Red. After Nov. 01, 1936 all tractors were red per IH paint committee decision #100, dated Oct. 20, 1936.
 
Gotta apologize. Gary is right about the color change. It happened a couple years before the F14 was produced. Its the F12s, 20s and 30s that the year would make a difference in the color. 14s were red.

The serial number is still a handy thing to know, though. The plate is on the upright support under the front end of the fuel tank.
 
Yeah, I never know what to make of their data. I note that they show the F12 having more power than the 14. Do you know, are they a Wiki type board where anybody can fill in the gaps or is there actually somebody researching or verifying their data?
 
I just checked my book, "The Field Guide to Farmall Tractors" and it says F-14 PTO HP is 17 HP. I just compared the F-12 and F-14 HP on Tractor Data and they must have a mistake. Maybe they could fix it if someone contacted them with their email link.
 
I look at external_link only out of desperation, and I'm usually not that desparate.
 
Paint code was IH 50. Crosses to DuPont 7410, PPG 70019, etc. You will probably not find it premixed.
