Diesel Scout Traveller value

I found a 1980 Scout Traveller diesel that a man wants to sell. I want to offer him a fair price for it. It has been sitting up for about 6 months, I boosted it off, after smoking for about 5 minutes it cleared up. It drives fine, 4wd works, transmission shifts fine(auto.). I would rate the interior as a 5 out of 10, A/C, cruise, tilt wheel. Outside is a 6 out of 10.

Any thoughts on the value?
Any input would be appreciated.

I've had chances to buy them with rusty bodies for less then $1000. I used to drive one as a Deere service vehicle. The Nissan engine is bullet proof. The last few years had turbos which I suspect would bring more money. I guess a good body would bring more money also - if any exist. They tended to fall apart.

A non-turbo diesel Scout sold near me a few months ago for $500. I would of grabbed it if I'd had the chance, but I found out too late.

I've been looking for an IH pickup for about 1 year now. I keep a pretty close watch on ebay. A Scout is somewaht of a rarity as compared to other automobiles and the diesel is even rarer. Rough body is pretty standard, after all its almost 30 years old. They are usually in the range of 2-3000 in the condition stated. Will bring 8-10+ restored. Sweet piece of American auto history you found there.
