What is the recommended tappet setting for the Regular (cold). My Regular instruction book says 16/1000ths, but does not state whether hot or cold, and the Overhauling the Regular book says 10/1000th. Here again, does not state whether hot or cold. Can"t remember what clearance I used when rebuilding my Regular. Your recommendations--please.

The 16 is the probably a cold setting and 10 is hot. I just looked at clearances in my 10-20 books the other day, and that specified the clearances (.010; and .010 - .012) needed to be rechecked hot.

I recall setting one something .016 - .020 cold and didn't bother to recheck it hot; worked fine, but that's pretty lazy of me.

Not exactly apples to apples engines, but that does corresspond to one of your books, as well as Oldiron29's techniques.
