Anyone know where I can buy a flat belt for my H? I want to get the cordwood saw going this winter. Thank you, Joe

tsc and rualking both have the belting and laceing you need here in middle tn there is a company called Nashville rubber and gasket that can make your belt up for you. im using a old streched hay roller belt

Those leather belt seem fairly spendy...a 4" belt (the largest they sell) to power an implement a mere 4 feet away is going to cost you ~$275. Is that the going rate for belts? Or is that just because they're a higher quality leather belt?

I have one here in central Minnesota... 4 inch, but I have no idea what they are worth... anyone know?

Well, if you can't find something used at auctions or tractor shows flea markets or wherever, you can get new flat belting at McMaster Carr. Get rubber compounded flat belting, don't buy leather, it's beyond real expensive and won't take much of any weather. Rubber composition about 3/16ths or 1/4th inch and either 4 or 6 inch wide would do it I think. New belting of any kind is expensive, try to find something used first for sure.

For the record, I am not trying to talk down belt powered equipmet. But it sounds like a new, complete PTO driveshaft is cheaper. For 275 bones you could propably find a used PTO gearbox and driveshaft as well as fabricate the brackets. Long, flat belt and an open buzzsaw sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Go to this link to find new flat belting. Click on parts and you will find the belting. Not cheap however. The advise to look for used belt is good, but beware the condition as sometimes the old belting is rotten. Get a rubberized belt, not leather.

We have got a few of these on on a Farmall M, one on a John Deere B unstyled and one on a WD45 Allis. We use both types of belts on these Leather and rubber. Yes the leather is nicer if you are going to work it more but the rubber is cheaper. Just go down to your local Farm Store and pick one up 4 inch is fine don't need a 6 or 8 it is just kind of a waste. I have some Alligator lacing that I would sell some to you to put these together. Alligator lacing is a no special to tool lace just need a hammer. Be careful with these they are VERY dangorous 40 horsepower dosen't know you body or a log. I had a belt break and hit me at a demo at a tractor show for our local club. Lacing split and hit me in the shoulder and arm about 6 inches away from my head bad deal but I lived and finshed the demo that week. Hurt like h**l though but I got over it. Watch for nails and boards kicking out that can be pretty nasty. If you are careful and know what your doing they are great. Happy Cutting.
