1586 Rear Wheel Width?

I was wondering the width of the rear wheels on a IH 1586. Also did IH make wheels in 38" and 42" or just 38". Thanks Jesse Kasper

The wheels could either be 16" rims for 18.4 tires or 18" rims for 20.8 tires.

I have seen them both ways.

Don't think IH ever had 42" wheels. The first tractors with 42" wheels were the CaseIH.

Jessie,

42" and 46" diameter rear tires are a recent invention. Back in the '80s, 38" were the biggest "big tractor" rims available.

You could convert the older IHs to 42" rims using the same step lugs that some people are currently using to convert 34" to 38", and I believe that you can also get step rims.
