Just replaced water temp gauge with original style, started and let in run for at least 20 min. and the gauge didnt move, it is about 30 out, should it take longer for this gauge to move
thanks

They have good cooling systems. I don't think the gauge would move if it ran for 20 minutes not working or pulling a load. I installed a new original style gauge in my H last year, it will never raise the needle off "COLD" unless I'm working or pulling a load.

It will take longer and maybe a little effort. I think you're working on some other stuff, too, so if the tractor isn't ready to move or you don't have any work for it to exercise on, you can try covering the grille with a tall kitchen garbage bag. The suction of the fan will hold it in place and it will act like a closed radiator shutter. If the grille is off, a piece of cardboard over the radiator will do the same thing. You may have to run it for a half-hour like that for the needle to even move and longer to get it up into the middle range.

You need to install a thermostat in the top neck before the radiator. Problem solved. David............

a few years ago i replaced the thermostat on mine cause i'd never seen the temp gauge move except once when the fan belt was slipping. it still stays on cold even after a couple hours on heavy load. i think it's the nature of the beast.

I have a Super C and a Super H. All is well and correct with cooling systems in both. Had radiators for both cleaned and checked at radiator shop before rebuilds of the tractors.

The Super H has a "Wow!" of a cooling system. In light everyday use, the needle barely moves. Did get the temp up into the higher part of the "RUN" on the guage during a couple of plow days last spring.

The Super C warms a little, will come up to "RUN" if I'm hogging with it in the spring or summer.

Our experience has been that these tractors have great cooling systems.

I agree with all the posts below. The only time I can remember the temp gauge on my 300 moving very much was on a hot day, and it turns out that there was a leak in my radiator and almost half the coolant had been lost!
