Regular rebuilt engine leaking water around the head gasket. Rebuild shop said they torqued head bolts to 80#s. Leaking mostly along the side with the water manifold. Would I be safe going to 85-90#s? Could find nothing specific in the archives. Did read where one owner torqued to 110#s on an F20. Thanks.

Forgot to mention you always want to retorque the head after you get her warmed up from a fresh rebuild. Also readjust your valve clearance.

Dr. I had same problem retorque at 5# increments
up till it stops leaking.
I think mine is 95 or 100 Than you have to reset your valve gaps. Oldiron29

I have found that FEL-PRO haed gaskets for a 20 or regular are crap. For some reason they just dont crush right. I get head gaskets from Alderson in Iowa. The ones he has made are not impregnated between to pieces of steel, instead are very thick with a mesh inpregnated inside the gasket. kind of hard to describe i guess. i havent had one from him leak yet, but every single FEL-PRO one ive put in has to some degree or another :?
