Farmall regular carb ? ..

Hello- I am working on my regular and I was wondering if somebody makes the steel tube that goes in the brass carb"s- I think it"s called suction tube-but not sure. anyway I have 2 brass carbs and both steel tubes are about rotted away.
Also I was wondering what treatment can I put on a dry old cork float to allow it to be bouyant? Thanks to all who reply-mike

Mike: For your carburetor repairs try Gordon Rice at 814-226-9200. He has supplied all my Regular needs. As for the float, he can supply that also, or I shellaced mine and while that may be wrong, it has worked for me.

Dr. Bert, shellac (the real stuff) is an alcohol based substance, and todays fuel just eats it off. If it needs to be sealed, a fuel tank sealant will work. Most leave them nude. JimN

Mike: Scratch the shellac!!! Thanks to Jim N for jogging my memory. I went to my notes, and sure enough, the shellac dissolved, but I neglected to write down what I did use. I seem to recall using a spray-on acrylic. Just can't remember for sure. Suggest a trial before installing. Hope I haven't confused you.

I bought a new float for my regular from Rice equipment. And the gas ate the shelac off. So I tried gas tank sealer. But it was sticky and stuck the float to the bottom of the carb and flooded it out. Since the I have left it naked.

leaveing it naked might work on a new float but on an old dry one it will gaslog and sink, I went through this before on an 22-36 and if I remember right, I painted with 24 hour epox. and that seemed to work- mike - been too many years !

Ours has a brass float out of a Kohler engine. Not sure what size engine, but that beats the shellac and it works like a dream. Simply solder the brass one on in place of the cork. jim
