826 extra fuel on starting

I don"t think my fuel pump gives the extra fuel when starting. I"ve taken the kill cable off and tried to get it to race the motor when pulling the kill level back when running as I learned here on the forum. But it just kinda stalls no matter where a pull it to.

Is this an easy fix or a rebuild?

Thanks for all the help.

The over-fueling starting feature is built into the lever that the fuel shut-off cable is connected to. By disconnecting the cable, you have disabled this feature.

Moving the throttle lever to "wide open" will NOT give you extra starting fuel for cranking.

The kill cable has to properly installed to allow the primer position to function on the injection pump. Pull it about 1/2 inch, maybe more to prime, and all the way to stop the motor. How are you shutting the motor off without the cable? Wayne

I just bought a 826 today. I have a variety of IH tractors, this is the first german diesel I've owned. I never heard of an extra position on the fuel shut-off used for starting. Can anyone elaberate on this?
