Hey Tractor Vet..... got a ? for you. Or, anyone else...

I have an 806 with a single set of hydraulic couplers at the rear which controlled by the left lever. Want a second set. Ran two hoses to the rear of the tractor off the right side of outlets behind the fuel tank. I removed two pioneer FM couplers that were there and installed the two hoses to the rear with new pioneer couplers. Hooked up a cylinder and can't get the cylinder to move. I was assuming the right side had been used before because of the couplers. Is it possible that the linkage to the right valve isn't attached to the lever from the factory? Any Ideas? Thanks Dan

first let me make sure I've got everything straight... sounds like your tractor has 2 remote valves, with one set of couplers in the rear, and two sets under the fuel tank- right and left side. If this is the case, the inside (left) lever controls the first (right) valve which operates BOTH the rear and the front left couplers. The outside (right) lever controls the second (left) valve which operates the front right couplers. Probably the easiest is to pull the tinwork under the seat, front and rear, and trace the plumbing. It's pretty self-evident.

As for your problem, can't help. Seems to me that running some hoses to the rear with quick couplers should work just fine. maybe got defective couplers? or is there a blockage in the hoses? If you don't need hydraulics up front, you could disconnect the banjo fittings at the valve and run hoses to the rear directly from there. Someone else might be able to tell you what thread you'll need to fit the valve.

Hey Dan,

Don't assume the right side outlet has been used just because the couplers are there. IH put them on at the factory. Am second owner of a 504 with side outlets that still had the original dust covers. Poppets in the couplers are stuck TIGHT.

By the way the IH couplers are not identical with Pioneer couplers, Sometimes they will work and sometimes not. Remove the female couplers and check for flow when you pull the lever. HTH.

Right now I have the second set of couplings attached to the right side outlets. The only thing that happens when the right lever is moved, it makes the three point move a bit. (I have a three point mower hooked up.) Making me think there is pressure going some where not just where I need it. I think I will just remove the hoses under the tank and move the lever to see what happens. If nothing happens I do as you suggest and remove the tin work and check it out. Thanks for the help, Dan

The current couplers have the pointed tappets and are free. They are 7/8 o-ring/ 10SAE thread that attach to the tractor. A pioneer male will couple right up. I'm not using those couplers though. I put on the standard 4000 series pioneer couplers with the round ball tappets. They are just like the other set already on the rear. Going to play with it more tommorrow. Thanks Dan
