Gresen valve parts interchangability

I have an old Gresen two-way valve with the detent kit, so the handle stays where you put it.

Dad's Super C came with a ONE-way Gresen valve that has a spring-centering control handle.

I want to take the spring center mechanism off the one-way valve, and put it on the two-way valve so we can have two-way hydraulics on the Super C.

Frankly, I'd try it rather than asking but I don't have the parts here. Any ideas if it'll work?

The detent valve body normally contains an extra relief valve that unlocks the detent when the cylinder reaches the end of the stroke. Unless Gresen was able to use the same housing for both types of valves, the internal detent parts won't interchange.

Hmm, the detent on the two-way valve is part of the spool end cap. The spring return is part of the spool end cap on the one-way valve.

The main castings looks identical.

I've got another one-way Gresen valve in my shed. Maybe I'll have Dad bring the two-way with him to dinner tomorrow so I can see if the parts will interchange. Then we can talk turkey, so to speak.
