coolant passage rust removal

short of dipping the whole block, any good ways to remove rust from inside? have the head off getting fixed and noticed a lot of rust in the block. it's a d350 out of a 650. i can take the side baffle plates off and get out the large flakes. any good snake oils out there that might help?

Use washing Soda and water (one cup per gallon of warm water, or a little stronger) to fill the block (do not get it in anything but the water jacket, or on you, as it is caustic) A strong mix will break down the rust flakes. then flush it out well. Removal of the side access is also a good idea if some mechanical cleaning is needed. JimN

Phosphoric acid. Buy it at the farm store as milkstone remover.
