Front end Swap

Will a narrow front off an M swap with a wide front of an H .. something tells me the h - 300 - 350 will and m - 400 - 450 but not H to M or visa versa... am I correct?

I have a wide front from an H under an M and that was a bolt to bolt swap. I have a buddy about 15 miles from me that has an M narrow front on his H pulling tractor. Actually its the narrow front off my M! We traded even up because he wanted the narrow front for less weight pulling and I wanted the wide front for working the farm. They do interchange. The tire size is the only difference that I know of.

Some folks claim to have done it, but if you have a narrow front from an H, and a narrow front from an M, place them side by side and measure the distance between the mounting bolt holes, you will find there is a big difference. Also, most Ms have much larger spindles hubs, and wheel bearings than what is on an H. Wide front axles can sometimes be swapped also, but considering that the M is a full two inches wider than an H, it will not be a direct swap.

I'm sure that this topic has been discussed before. If I remember right the consensus is that they do not directly interchange. Larger hole spacing on the M. Adapter plates are definitely an option.

The wide fronts will swap, but the steering arm won't and the brace to the frame will be narrower on an H.

The narrow fronts will not interchange without wobbling out the holes on something...
