Farmall C Muffler

Hello Folks; Here's one of those questions I have been meaning to find answers to. The muffler on my 'C' slips into the manifold and is held in place by a small steel dowel which passes through the manifold and the muffler. The problem is rain water. The water passes between the muffler and the top of the manifold. Am I missing something that would keep the water out? Thanks in advance folks and a Happy Thanksgiving to all.

You dont have the correct muffler as it is supposed to fit on the outside of the pipe coming off the manifold and held on with a clamp

A shed, or at least a quality canvas tarp, would keep the rain out. Your tractor will last longer, look better longer, and be more reliable if you can get it out of the weather somehow.

But yeah, that doesn't sound like the correct exhaust system. The correct exhaust system is a piece of 1-1/2" standard black iron pipe that screws into the manifold and extends above the hood. The muffler fits over the top of the pipe and is held with a muffler clamp On top of the muffler is the most important part, the RAIN CAP, or "flapper" as some people call it.

Hey Folks; Thank you for the information. One more step towards getting this tractor somewhat orginal.
