IH Engine ID again?

What was the model # of the combine and is the engine gas or diesel? If diesel does it have glow plugs? The more information you can give us the better we can help you. Armand

It is a 6cyl gas, don't no what # combine it come off of. On the right hand side of engine just behind the waterpump the # HT101 and just below that(next line)is # 13258. And the head (under the valve cover) is the # 164415R. And the oil filter housing # 371237-R1. Thats the only #'s on the engine. Thanks Keith Y.

That casting number 371237-R1 comes up as a casting code for a block that was also used in the IH460 and that gas 6 cyl could be a C-221

Is the carb still on it???????? If so, look at the carb flange, where the gasket sits,,, there is usually a date code stamped right on top of the carb flange. Example 5-75. This can help determine the year of the engine and possibly ID what it came out of. After a certain year, 263's were pretty much the smallest ci you could get for anything bigger than a 615 combine. Chad

The carb was robbed off of it,it takes small spark plugs,it takes 5/8 socket to take them out. I don't no if that helps any.Do all 6cyl gas engines use same size plugs? Thanks K.Y.

hI which way does the governor set on your engine.if it is parallel to the block it is alater engine probably 263. if governor sets at 90 degree angle to motor it is bd220 from 101 or early 303.timing cover from tractors will not fit on the bd220. this is my experience, hope this helps. Steve

It has a govner that sticks out from the side,Its not like a regular IH govner,Contintal brand name on the govner. Hope this helps. Thanks Keith Y.

That would be bd220 from 101 or early 303
