How big of a field cultivator do you think I can pull with my 5288. I am in NE Iowa, pretty heavy ground, some hills on one farm I have. I am sure I can pull 24-25 ft.,, but do I dare go any bigger. I can pull a 13 knive anhyrous toolbar on the flat ground no sweat, that is about he biggest load I have had on it so far. It is bigger than it needs to be with the machinery I used to pull with my 806. I used a disc on most ground this spring, but I would like to find a field cult. to cover more ground and take less power and fuel.

Cover more ground and use less fuel????

Ain't gonna happen.

26 foot would be about enough maybe 28 but it won't save you any fuel. The harder you pull the tractor the more fuel it will take.

In most cases the only way to cover more ground per hour in any field operation is to burn more fuel per hour. Either with a bigger tractor or pulling the tractor you have harder.

Now that ain't true if you are way out of wack on sizing your equipment to the tractor. Like say a 12' cultivator on your 5288 verus a 26. But for the most part you do have to burn more fuel to get more acres per hour.

Now if you mean field cultivating verus discing then yes it will save some fuel per acre.

Yes, I meant field cult. instead of discing. If it don't need to be disced then I don't want to use it. It pulls harder than a field cult. If I just need to hit some bean stubble with the cult. and plant. Discing is not needed, but it is all I have had in the past. I am going to look around for that 24-26 ft. width I belive, I got duals and fluid in the inside.
