IH 330 hesitation problem

Hi I have been restoring an IH 330 and I am having trouble getting it to run right.
It is hesitating when I give it gas and when it does get up to rpm it also hesitates when I try to put any type of load on it like putting it in gear or trying to lift anything with the loader.

I have replaced all of the wiring in the tractor switched it to a 12 volt system (replaced the alternator, ignition coil, starter, solenoid, battery, lights, ect)
I have also replaced the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and the plug wires.

I have also cleaned the carb and tried adjusting the only screw on the carb and tried adjusting the timing but nothing seams to be helping solve the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Set the timing according to spec as described in your operators manual. That is #1 at TDC, with the distributer installed so that the rotor points to the #1 terminal. If you wish, after doing that you can adjust by ear to the highest rpm. At idle these engines sometimes sound as if they are laboring unless you make a SMALL adjustment. However, I think your problem is the carb is too lean, possibly due to a partially plugged main jet, which is not adjustable (provided your carb is similar to the ones on the C113/123 engines, yours is a C135, same basic engine). It needs to be disassembled, soaked in carb cleaner, possibly overnight, blown out with compressed air, and a new kit put in. You say it has only one adjustment, if so that is the idle mixture jet, just turn it in or out until the engine runs smooth at low idle, not wide open throttle. It should also have a screw for the idle speed. Be sure the float is adjusted to specs.

When I got my 330 running this spring I had trouble like this. If you held my carb up to the sun you could see through between the bowl and the body the gasket was all dried out and shriveled up. I showed it to the crew in the shop at the dealership and one old timer pronounced that he figured the machine had sat at least 10 years.

I put a brand new strainer bowl under my tank. The old one was plugged with corrosion. Two weeks later I was having the troubles you describe and I pulled the assembly and the entire inlet where it's threaded to go in the tank was plugged with rusty sediment. This after removing and thoroughly cleaning the gas tank.

If all else fails, try tightening your intake manifold bolts. I had a 300 and 350 with similar problems of hesitating and not running right. Rebuilding the carb did not help. I finally fixed the problem by tightening the intake bolts. If that don't help, consider relplacing the intake manifold gaskets. Had to do that on my 350. They are easy to change and not expensive.
