WD-9 and MD

Hello,

I am wondering will and diesel engine from a WD-9 fit in a farmall M? I have a WD-9 engine and wanted to put it in my M, to make it a MD. The engine in my M is locked up and the block is cracked. So I thought it would be cool to make it a MD if possible.

Thanks,
Nick

Sorry, the WD-9 engine is a whole different animal than the MD engine. Much larger physically.

That's not to say that with enough fabrication and adaptors you might be able to MAKE it fit...nothing's impossible, but practical is a whole different ballgame....probably have to widen the frame rails, re-route the steering shaft, use a larger WD-9 radiator, etc etc etc.

The WD-9 engine will not fit in the M chassis without major modifications. If you find an MD engine or and engine from a WD-6, it will not fit in the M chassis either. The MD engine is longer than the M gas engine and therefore the chassis on the MD is slightly longer than the M. The side rails on the MD are longer than on the M.
