560 wiring diagram

Can anyone e-mail me a 560 gas wiring diagram or show me whereI can find it on the net? It is 12 volt but still running 6 volt coil and distributer.

Mark: Someone has been tinkering, 560s were all 12 volt from the factory, thus it would have had a true 12 volt coil when new.

On your wiring diagram, all IH operator's manuals contain excellent wiring diagrams for that particular tractor. In the case of a 560 there will be diagrams for each of gas and diesel.

I think your tractor has a 12 volt coil running through a ballast resistor -- that's what my 460 had. I changed it to a 12 volt coil with an internal resistor. As Hugh says operator's manual has the best diagrams. There are also some rather hard to read diagrams in the parts section of www.caseih.com. Bob M's diagrams will give you the basics to get it running, but won't give detailed advice on exact wire routing, or wiring to the instrument panel, etc, as they were designed primarily for the letter series.

Not necessarily an improvement. In typical external resistor systems the ignition switch had a set of contacts that shorted out the resistor when the starter was cranking the engine. This compensated for the fact that the starter pulls the battery voltage down to about 9 volts and gave you extra spark when you needed it.

I changed the coil because I fried the old one and wasn't sure the resistor still worked. Thus the internal resistor one from NAPA. It works fine as did the old one before I fried it.

That"s fine: I just wanted to point out that eliminating the external resistor in favor of an internal one is not necessarily an improvement. I just checked the wiring-diagram for my 560 and the resistor is, in fact, bypassed while the starter is cranking, by an extra contact on the solinoid.
