i tried to change hyd filter on my 2404 and some of the parts were missing in the canister. any one have any idea where to find these parts? thanks, leon

Most of the filter assembly parts are still available from CaseIH. For the ones that aren't you might try placing an add here in the YT classifieds or try someone like Wengers or another salvage operation.

The 2404 doesn't have a little filter in front of the shifter. It's a suction side canister assembly located right at the pump.

Ohh sory I thought the industrial one might have had a high side filter like my 2444. I just have a screen on the suction side.

Not sure which parts you need. My 2606 has a auxillary cannister filter that came with the IH 3000 loader mounted in the loader frame. Changed it over a week ago and dropped it on the ground. Wasn't sure what parts went where then.

A flat aluminum appeared to go on the inside of the cannister on the bolt. Then the small hole of the filter which has a rubber washer on it. Then the large end of the filter at the open end of the cannister had a plate recessed a few inches. I put the pyramid shaped spring with the small end on the filter and the large end seemed to want to fit the filter base. Tightened it up and no leakee. I thought the flat filter going against the cone shape of the cannister would cause it to leak there because the filter doesn't seem like it would go flush against the aluminum washer. I did figure out the spring can't go on the inside of the cannister first before the filter.

I'll let the others chime in here but I wonder if you can get by without the washer and spring.

Out of curiosity I looked on the CaseIH site this morning. All of the internal filter parts appear to be still available from them other than one cupped washer that they call a filter retainer.

My advise is to get all of the parts and install them properly. They compose the filter and filter bypass assembly. Without them or with them improperly installed you'll be in effect running unfiltered fluid though the system.

Rebuilt pumps run about $500. Running unfiltered oil though the system seems to be a sure way to soon need one...
