Fluids for Hydralics, PTO, and Tranny

I have searched and looked but I can't seem to find out what kinds of fluids I should be using in my 300. I need to know what to put in the hydraulic reservoir and what to put in the Tranny and for that matter what to put in the PTO housing too. Thanks in advance!

Matt, get yourself an owner's manual. Reprints are available from many sources on the Internet. Ebay user "bsharptwo" makes quality reprints for reasonable prices. You can also get reprints from Binder Books on the web.

I'm surprised you couldn't find any info. This subject comes up almost daily on this forum.

Use what the owner's manual recommends, just keep in mind that "Touch Control Fluid" was renamed "HyTran" some time in the 1960's.

I know Hugh says Hytran for everything, but I'm pretty sure the transmission, rear end, and PTO use SAE90 gear oil. Hytran will work, but it is a little thin for transmissions of that era, and you may notice extra gear noise. I certainly would not use Hytran in the transmission if you plan on working the 300. It won't hurt anything, but the whine from the transmission will drive you nuts.
