340 t.a. HELP

I have lost the high range in my 340 utility. I thought it was more common for the low range to go out. Am I looking at a rebuild or adjustment? It had been working great up to this point with no slipping.

If the TA clutch wears out, it will not allow direct drive. THe TA clutch "locks up the planetary gearset in the TA making it drive direct. When it slips, it allows the Gears to reduce the ratio, and the one way Ramp/Rollers clutch keeps the TA assembly from turning backwards. It is somewhat uncommon, but is easily repaired (with a split). I would replace the one way clutch and the TA clutch, and the master clutch/Throwout bearing while I was in there. JimN

You may have completley lost the ta pressure plate and disk and maybe even the t/a flywheel. I have t/a replacement parts if needed. Feel free to send me an email.

It was because I started typing a short congratulations to a successful repair, and for got to switch to the message box. The content got stuck into my browsers auto fill "mind" and appears when I open an Add a Reply to anyone. Oh well. If I am in a hurry, I forget to swap it out to my regular Janicholson, Good evening Andy, Jim

Jim, to make your PC remember you as Janicholson again, just click into the Farmall board, on the top of the page there is a link called "Login Status", click it and log out. Make a post again and you will need to sign in again, it should remember you as Janicholson.

Go to post a message, clear out the name and click once in the box, it should bring up names you have used, point to JanicholsoncantBeatthat and push the "Delete" button on your keyboard. Type in your name, Janicholson and make a post, I think this would fix it, but I'm not sure. If you still have problems, email Chris.

If your TA clutch disk still is the original style with riveted lining it is not unusual for the line to come off and the high side will no longer work. Letting the tractor free wheel down a hill in the TA position will over speed the disk enough for the lining to break off from the rivets.
