450 throttle linkage

So, I was in the barn today messing with my 450LP. I have pulled some sheet metal off and attacked the battery box. Old battery wouldn't make ground. Got the rotten battery box off and hooked up a new battery.
Then I started messing with the throttle linkage. It is WAY off. When you have the linkage at 1/3 throttle, the engine is at low idle. You can pull the throttle past the notches and get to full rpm. Started looking at the adjustment in the linkage and that rod looks like it need to be an inch longer to get it to idle at the idle position.
Does anybody else have a 450 with linkage like this?

Check the small solid pin that connects the lever to the throttle shaft. This pin might have broken or sheared. We've had to replace ours several times.
If this doesn't fix it, look under the hood cowling --there is a linkage for the throttle there.

Mine is the same way, have to move it close to half to get off idle. After overhauling it last winter checked the throttle lever and where the shaft was pinned in the throttle lever it was worn. Tried to drive it out, but wouldn't move, was afraid of breaking something. Mine has a stop on the throttle lever that won't let it go below the notches. I think the IT manual says twist the shaft if you have used up all the adjustments

I just fixed that on a 450 about a month ago and mine was the pin hole in the rod that the throttle lever connects to. I drove out the old pin and drilled everything out the same size then put a bolt in it so it would be easier to get out next time. If I remember correctly I used a 1/4 inch bolt.
