M won't start ???

The M turns over but won"t run. there"s gas going to the carb. It looks like the carb gets flooded cause it drips some after trying to start it. it just runs the battery out trying to get it going.
Any ideas? Thanks

Does it ever "pop" or try to start? Make sure your distributor/Magneto have a strong blue spark. If your carb floods easily, it may be not adjusted correctly or needs rebuilding.

Sounds like it time to do some basic trouble shooting. Check for a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap. No spark or weak spark no run. Also make sure the plugs are clean and not fouled out or maybe even replace them

you should not have to crank it for more than 5 seconds at a time and it should dtart after a few cranks or there is no spark or no gas. these tractors start really easy if there is gas and spark, even if its cold.

Start it with the choke open, then close it part way when it begins to run. In cold weather, if it runs for a couple of seconds and dies, it will likely flood, then it will not start -- common problem.

The new gasoline with so much added ethanol has caused some problems. The ethanol tends to dissolve the rubber gaskets and seals. If the carburetor is leaking either the floats are bad, the float valve is bad, a gasket is bad, or there is trash in the carburetor. The carburetor most likely needs a boil out and rebuild.

I have found on my farmall H with a 12 volt that if I choke it to much at first it will flood REAL easy. I choke it for 2 rolls of the engine and then half choke and it usually starts real well. Winter is different cold blooded and cranks for a while before starts.
Another note if your tractor has flooded out a few times I have found that even though a plug looks good change it anyway. These plugs dont take flooding, for some reason. Dont know why that is so. Maybe someone else would know.
