HAD TO PULL MY 400 OFF THE OTHER DAY AFTER FLOODING HER OUT, AFTER WE GOT IT STARTED THE CLUTH (THROWOUT BEARING) SEAMED AS IF IT DIDNT WANT TO DISENGAGE UNTIL ABOUT 50 YARDS, THEN WHEN GOING BACK UP HILL THE TRACTOR QUIT MOVING AND STARTED MAKING A ZINGING NOISE FROM THE GEAR/ CLUTCH HOUSING, IT DID THE SAME IF T/A WAS ENGAGED OR NOT,AFTER I GOT IT BACK ON FLAT GROUND IT WOULD THEN PULL, HOPEFULLY I JUST WORE DOWN THE CLUTCH FACING BUT BE FORE I DO ANYTHING I WAS WANTING TO KNOW WHAT YALL THOUGHT IT COULD BE

You can probably see the release bearing through the access hole, see if it turns or seems loose, etc. You might try adjusting the clutch and TA, doubt if that helps -- but to fix whatever it is you have to split the tractor. New clutch kit including rebuilt clutch, pilot and release bearings are about $250 minus $24 core charge from Steel Wheel Ranch 785-548-7437. You can find the bearing locally if thats what it turns out to be.
