400 hydro oil foamy???

Ok guys this might sound strange but I'm stumped!I have a Farmall 400 row crop that the hydrolics only work part time. The fluid looks normal before I start it.but after it runs only a short time the fluid looks like it has air in it. Ive cleaned the filter, drained the system by draining the reservoi and removing all of the lines to the pump ,cyl on the fast hitch and even the power steering pump. Then added high quality hydro fluid. Tehe hitch will work a couple of times and then it wont. Then Im back to the same thing, foamy fluid. If it sets a day or so the fluid will look good .Then start it and the same thing happens all over again. I cant see any leaks or anyplace where it might be sucking air. And I also bleed the system with the screw on the pump. What is going on???? Has anyone else had this same problem?? What else can I do??? Thanks Doug

I would put a tire Valve stem in an adapter in the Reservoir filler neck. then pump in 35psi and wait to see if it begins leaking or air is escaping. If it is, the answer might be there. If it is not, it is possibly an internal leak, allowing air to enter the suction side. Air can also enter at the pump through seals. a bad hydraulic valve will also suck air at times. Over filling sometimes helps diagnose broken O rings on the suction side. Good luck, JimN

Had same problem with my 450. Thanks to a good neighbor who know them inside and out fixed mine. Replaced gasket on left side under casting on resevoir and 0-ring on suction line, no luck. Replaced same gasket again, no luck. Removed filter screen and put pressure on suction side and used a small mirror and looked in resevior for leaks. A short pipe that should of been pressed in to casting was lose and is above oil and was sucking air. J-B welded it. This tractor could of had this problem from the day it was new. My pump always worked when oil was cold. If started it when oil was hot, it would not pick up
