I have a chance to pick up a 1958 Farmall 240 Utility from a friend and am not very familiar with the model. I have driven a Cub and a C and owned everything from an H to a 1586. If I want to get a size perspective, how far between a regular old Cub and a C (or H) would it be, in the middle, closer to Cub, etc.? I know it has 24" rear tires but haven"t been able to come up with length, width and weight from any searches I have done. I have an owner"s manual on order but I am sure I will get the tractor before it arrives in the mail.

i have a 240 u . i would say its about a farmall c, short in stature, built like a stout woman. my 240 with a 6 ft bush hog (fasthitch) will fit on my 18 ft car hauler trailer. i would guess weight around 3200 lbs. my rear tires are calcuim loaded.

Brent: The cast chassis will be same length as SC, 200, etc. Overall length will be less due to swept back front axle, and front tires not protruding beyond grill. Smaller rear tires will also reduce length by difference between 36" and 24" tires. Weight will be about the same as SC, 200, etc.

I have not seen one. Ken Updike's data book says 3300 lbs shipping weight, yours should be heavier. But, question is, are the 24 inch tires mentioned above correct, I would think it would have 28's. Although the C/SC/200/230/240 belong to the same family as the A and B which have 24's. "Most" utilities have 28's

My 58 240 U has 24" wheels. Here it is with a 30" dirt scoop. David............
